Death of Thomas: a new tagged mosque in Angers

Tags linked to the murder of young Thomas in Drôme were discovered on the future mosque of Angers (Maine-et-Loire) under construction, the president of the Association of Muslims of Angers announced on Thursday, November 30, after similar inscriptions and Islamophobic threats against two other mosques in France.

“The Angers mosque under construction has just been damaged once again”, with these tags discovered on Monday, Mohamed Briwa told Agence France-Presse, confirming information from Courrier de l’Ouest. “The inscription “justice for Thomas” discovered on the fence of the mosque was interpreted by those responsible and faithful as the desire of its authors to make the link between the tragic death of the young high school student and Muslims,” he said. he adds.

In addition to this inscription, portraits of young Thomas were plastered with the words “French massacre, stop! self-defense,” according to Mr. Briwa. “Making Muslims responsible for Thomas’ death is an unbearable injustice,” he continued, explaining that a complaint had been filed.

On Saturday, Islamophobic tags were discovered on the walls of the mosque in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (Manche) and a mosque in Valence (Drôme) received a threatening letter, both also in connection with the murder of young Thomas.
