Fire on rue de Charonne: the criminal brigade seized for intentional homicide

First attributed to the 2nd judicial police district, the investigation into the fire that occurred on Sunday rue de Charonne in Paris and which caused the death of three people was entrusted to the criminal brigade, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced in Agence France-Presse (AFP), Tuesday April 9. “The results of the autopsies carried out led the prosecution to refer the charges of intentional homicide and intentional destruction of the property of others by a means dangerous to people to the criminal brigade,” he added.

According to Le Parisien, which consulted a source close to the investigation, the two bodies found on fire in the rubble – the third victim having escaped from the window – presented a wound compatible with a gunshot to the skull. Contacted by Le Monde, the prosecution clarified that “the victims [were] not, at this time, formally identified”, adding: “The investigations are continuing. »

The fire broke out around 8:15 p.m. Sunday in an apartment located on the seventh floor of an eight-story building on rue de Charonne, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. “We are sure of the origin of the fire, since all the local residents are unanimous on the fact that they heard an explosion. On the other hand, the origin of the explosion is not known, especially since it is a building which does not have town gas,” explained Monday to AFP Nour Durand-Raucher, advisor to Paris security delegate in the 11th arrondissement.
