Fresh hope has emerged for a previously stalled housing development in north Liverpool, as a new company has stepped in to purchase the site. Caro Developments, a Liverpool-based company, has recently acquired the Vauxhall Wharf apartment development on Vauxhall Road in Vauxhall. The development, which consists of 74 apartments, was purchased from the executors of the late owner. Caro Developments has also secured a conditional deal with a local housing association to take over the scheme once it is completed.

Neil Carlyle, the managing director of Caro Developments, expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition, stating, “I’m pleased that we’ll be able to do justice to the development and remove a blight from the local streetscape. There are a few issues to tidy up with the city council regarding the previous owner’s permission, but we’re actively working with them to resolve these promptly. This scheme will provide much-needed affordable rental properties for local residents, just a short walk from the city center. The site boasts an attractive canal frontage, and we have already invested in cleaning up the site and ensuring its security.”

Local Labour councillor Assen Christov, who represents the Vauxhall ward, welcomed the news of the development’s revival, stating, “This is good news, and I hope that any remaining issues can be resolved swiftly. The site holds a prominent position, and my constituents are eager to see it put back to use. Providing housing for local workers would be an ideal solution.”

Construction on the project originally began several years ago, with a sign outside indicating a completion date of summer 2018. However, the development faced setbacks and remained unfinished. The involvement of Caro Developments has sparked optimism for the future of the site and the surrounding community.Residents are hopeful that the new company’s proactive approach will lead to the successful completion of the much-needed housing project, bringing new life to the area.
