In Paris, police open fire and injure a woman who made threatening remarks on the RER C

Police opened fire and seriously injured a woman who, according to witnesses, made threatening remarks and shouted “Allahu Akbar” on an RER C train in Paris, Agence France-Presse learned from police sources and from from the Paris public prosecutor’s office. “The woman’s vital prognosis is in jeopardy,” said the prosecution.

The police were requested early in the morning, after calls from passengers mentioning a “completely veiled” woman who “uttered threats” in an RER which was then traveling in Val-de-Marne, explained the police source. The police managed to “isolate” him at the Bibliothèque François-Mitterrand station in Paris, which was quickly evacuated, this source added. The woman “refused to comply with the police’s orders” and threatened “to blow herself up,” detailed the prosecution and the police source. A police officer then fired once, seriously injuring this woman.

Two investigations were opened. One, entrusted to the Parisian judicial police for “apology, death threats and acts of intimidation against a holder of public authority”. The other was entrusted to the general inspection of the national police, the police force, and targets shooting by the police officer, as is the case when a police officer uses his firearm.
