Jamie Dornan: 'I had a difficult time in my mid-20s'

Hollywood stars are also sometimes plagued by self-doubt – including “Fifty Shades of Gray” star Jamie Dornan (40). “I had a very difficult time in my mid-20s,” admits the father of three in an interview with the news agency spot on news.

“It made me think about what life is all about. Should I act differently because I’m 25? Some people think you’re an adult at that age, but I still felt like a kid.” At that time, he lost all sense of himself. Dornan has also repeatedly questioned his environment.

“I felt like I didn’t quite know who I was.” But one event changed his life abruptly: “Then I met my wife at the age of 27 and everything fell into place.” Dornan has been married to actress Amelia Warner (40) since 2013.

The actor, who is now 40, can also look back on a number of successes professionally. His latest project: In the thriller series “The Tourist – Duell im Outback” (from August 12 in the ZDF media library) he plays a man who wakes up in a hospital after a car accident in the Australian outback – and nothing can remember more. Would Dornan himself like to erase something from his memory? “There are a few embarrassing moments in my life,” says the British actor, laughing. “Like the first time I asked a girl out and she said no.”

Only recently did he talk to his friends about the story. “Twelve years later, her brother approached me in a bar. He told me he heard me when I asked her.” That was “pretty bad” for the actor. “Maybe it’s those little moments that I’d like to forget.” But moments like this were just part of life. “I don’t really regret anything.”

“The Tourist – Duell im Outback” is available from August 12 in the ZDF media library. The series will also start on TV on August 22, also on ZDF.
