Motive unclear: Two dead after stabbing in Belgian Eupen

Two people have been fatally injured in a fight in a café in the Belgian city of Eupen. Five others were partially seriously injured early Friday morning, the police said, according to the news agency Belga.

The injured are therefore additional guests and employees.

According to the information, a knife was also used in the dispute and a 52-year-old suspect from the Belgian municipality of Baelen was arrested.

The background and motive of the act were initially unclear, as the agency Belga reported. An investigating judge is now investigating murder and intentional bodily harm.

Eupen is a city in the Walloon part of Belgium and is located near the German-Belgian border, about 15 kilometers as the crow flies from Aachen. There live about 20,000 inhabitants.
