Roseanne Barr as a protest for the end of his character: “I’m Not dead, bitches”

After the controversial expulsion of Roseanne Barr from his own series, Roseanne, ABC managed to save the format by ordering the production of a comedy focused on the rest of the family protagonist, The Conners. Last week the american chain premiered this new fiction. And as expected, the actress said on Twitter their discontent both with the end of his alter-ego as the way chosen to fire him.

According to Variety, the writers of The Conners have decided to end the life of the character of Roseanne. In response to his fatal destination, Barr tweeted: “I’m Not dead, bitches”, in the original message in English, “I AIN’t DEAD BITCHES”. And in a joint communiqué signed by the series creator and his spiritual master, rabbi Shmuley Boteach, both say: “While we wish the best to the cast and the production team of The Conners, we regret that ABC chose to cancel Roseanne killing the character of Roseanne Barr. And that was through an overdose of opiates gave a dimension grim and morbid to what in another time was a series of family”.

The statement continues, saying that the cancellation of the comedy was the result of fear, arrogance and the refusal to forgive”. And, in his opinion, somewhat unnecessary since “Roseanne was the only television series that addressed directly the deep divisions that threaten the very fabric of our society”.

“Specifically, the series promoted the message of love and respect for each other should transcend the differences of origin and division of ideas. The series brought together characters of different political beliefs and ethnic origins in a united family, a rarity in the entertainment modern american. Above all, the series held to a strong woman and matriarchal in a main role, something that we need to [see] more and more in our country”, they assure.

on The 29th of may, ABC canceled so fulminant Roseanne. The reason was a tweet racist where Barr compared to Valerie Jarett, advisor to the former president Barack Obama with a chimp. Although later apologized, saying his joke was in bad taste and that was under the effects of a sedative drug, the avalanche of criticism precipitated the decision of the chain.

discussions about a possible spin-off series began as soon as they announced the cancellation. It is not surprising: ABC had already renewed Roseanne for one more season, the eleventh after his resurrection, to become in his fiction more view and gather in its premiere to more than 18 million viewers. In mid-June, ABC announced the continuity of the comedy through a spin-off focused, as mentioned above, in the rest of the family: The Conners. In Spain Neox premieres this Sunday at 22.30 hours the series.

John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman at the head of the cast of the new comedy. In the production, developed by Werner Entertainment, repeated the own Gilbert, Tom Werner, Bruce Helford, Dave Caplan, Bruce Rasmussen and Tony Hernandez.
