SZA, the talented singer, recently added another award to her impressive collection. At the Songwriters Hall of Fame 2024 Induction and Awards Gala, she was honored with the Hal David Starlight Award for her exceptional songwriting skills. This recognition highlights her significant impact on the music industry through her original compositions.

During her acceptance speech, SZA expressed her gratitude and excitement, stating that winning this award validates her career, especially as a woman and a Black artist. She performed an acoustic version of her song “Snooze” at the event, receiving the award from songwriter Nile Rodgers.

This latest accolade adds to SZA’s already impressive list of achievements, including three Grammys, four iHeartRadio Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, and a Brit Award. She joins the ranks of past Hal David Starlight Award recipients such as Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Ed Sheeran, and Lil Nas X.

The gala also welcomed new inductees into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, including renowned artists like Steely Dan’s Donald Fagen and Walter Becker, Timbaland, and R.E.M.’s Mike Mills and Michael Stipe. The event featured performances by stars like Missy Elliott, Jason Isbell, Carrie Underwood, and Keith Urban.

Looking ahead, SZA is gearing up for the 2024 BET Awards where she is nominated five times, including for her collaboration with Drake on “Rich Baby Daddy.” She continues to showcase her talent on stage, recently headlining the Governors Ball and set to perform at Summerfest in Milwaukee and the British Summer Time Hyde Park concert series in London.

In addition to her music career, SZA is venturing into acting with her upcoming feature film debut in a buddy comedy alongside Keke Palmer, produced by Issa Rae at TriStar Pictures.
