The next series of David Simon on HBO will address the rise of fascism in the US

After more than two decades of fruitful relationship, HBO has given the green light to the next series from David Simon, creator of acclaimed dramas of the channel as The Wire or Treme. The cable network will produce The plot of America, adaptation of the novel of the same name by Philip Roth, in which the author imagines an alternative history of the united States.

The history is starring a jewish family of working class New Jersey which attends the rise political of Charles Lindbergh, a hero of aviation and a populist, xenophobic becomes president of the government with the aim of taking the nation toward fascism.

Simon himself and his frequent collaborator Ed Burns, with whom he has already worked in dramas such as The Wire or Generation Kill, will write the script and produce this miniseries, which will consist of six episodes.

As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, this announcement comes just days after the mid-term elections in the united States where the democrats won control of the House of representatives “in a country increasingly divided under the presidency of [Donald] Trump”.
