The How

Friday’s forecasted low pressure track.Kelly Reardon, cleveland.com  Tonight’s thunderstorms will kick off after 10 p.m. with a very strong low pressure system passing. The warmth and moist air today breaking records across Northeast Ohio will act like fuel to these storms, strengthening them to severe level. Thunderstorms officially become severe when winds reach over 58 mph with possible hail. The Storm Prediction Center has Cleveland in an area of “slight” risk for severe weather, but Columbus and Cincinnati are in the “enhanced” risk area. As a trailing cold front passes Saturday morning, this will drop temperatures significantly, and spark some light lake-effect showers. Don’t worry though, near zero accumulation is expected. Only the extreme northeast corner of the state, near Ashtabula, could see over an inch of snow, but chances are only 20 percent.

Here’s your chances of accumulating 1 inch of snow or greater 7 a.m. Saturday through 7 a.m. Sunday:

Sunday, a high pressure system will make its way, drying skies out too much for any precipitation to form. Another low pressure will take its place on Monday, bringing in slight chances of rain most of the day.
