Former President Obama is “behind” widespread protests targeting the Trump administration and Republican lawmakers, President Trump said in an interview.

“I think that President Obama is behind it because his people certainly are behind it,” Trump told “Fox & Friends” in an interview that aired Tuesday morning.

“But I also understand that’s politics. And in terms of him being behind things, that’s politics. And it will probably continue,” he said.

Trump’s comments come the morning of his first address to a joint session of Congress, where he’ll attempt to unite the country behind his vision for America.

The new president, who was sworn in just last month, has faced widespread protests since taking office.

Members of Congress from his own political party have likewise faced raucous town halls across the country — with many constituents speaking out against their support of Trump’s agenda.

Trump also blamed Obama loyalists still serving in the government for leaking to the press.

“Some of the leaks possibly come from that group, you know, some of the leaks, which are really very serious leaks, because they’re very bad in terms of national security,” he said.

But, Trump admitted, “Well, you never know what’s exactly happening behind the scenes.”
