2027 presidential election: Le Pen in the lead in the first round, Philippe best placed in the majority

Marine Le Pen tops voting intentions in the first round of the 2027 presidential election regardless of the Macronist candidate, with only Edouard Philippe and Bruno Le Maire managing to qualify for the second round, according to a poll published on Wednesday.

This Toluna Harris Interactive study, carried out for Challenges, tests eight majority candidates, proposing Laurent Wauquiez as LR candidate and a contender for each Nupes party: Jean-Luc Mélenchon (LFI), Bernard Cazeneuve (PS), Fabien Roussel (PCF) and Yannick Jadot (EELV). The applications of Nathalie Arthaud, Eric Zemmour, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan and Philippe Poutou were also submitted to respondents.

The far-right leader garnered 30 to 33% of voting intentions in the first round, systematically in the lead.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon (16 to 17%) comes in second position, except in the case of the candidacy of Edouard Philippe (second with 22%), or even Bruno Le Maire (tied for second, 16%).

The other personalities of the majority tested dampen the Macronist hopes of reaching the second round of the vote: Gérald Darmanin (14% voting intentions), Gabriel Attal (12%), Elisabeth Borne (11%) and Jean Castex (9 %) are given third.

François Bayrou would come fifth with 8% voting intention, while the President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, only received 5% voting intention, in eighth position.

Among Emmanuel Macron’s voters in the first round of 2022, Edouard Philippe also tops the voting intentions with 64%, ahead of Bruno Le Maire (51%), Gérald Darmanin (45%), Gabriel Attal (42%), Elisabeth Borne (39%) or Jean Castex (30%).

In the event of François Bayrou’s candidacy, last year’s Macronist voters would only be 25% to vote for the president of the MoDem, as many as those who would vote for Bernard Cazeneuve (23%).

The former socialist Prime Minister of François Hollande would collect up to 24% of the votes of Mr. Macron’s voters in 2022 in the event of the candidacy of Ms. Braun-Pivet, who would only convince 18%.

Whatever the hypothesis, 6% to 12% of Emmanuel Macron’s supporters intend to vote for Marine Le Pen in 2027 and 6% to 21% for Laurent Wauquiez.

Survey carried out online from September 1 to 4 among a sample of 2,525 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over, including 2,148 people registered on the electoral lists, using the quota method.
