Since the initial reports in early August suggesting that The Lucha Brothers, Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo, might be leaving AEW for WWE, there has been much speculation about their signing status. Recently, Cory Hays of PWNexus seemed to indicate that the duo had signed a multi-year main roster deal with WWE, but it appears that this information might have been premature. Both Fightful Select and Pro Wrestling Insider have now reported that while The Lucha Brothers are likely headed to WWE, they have not officially signed contracts yet.

According to Fightful’s sources within WWE, the brothers have not been signed, with one insider even mentioning that Fenix is still under contract with AEW, although this has not been confirmed by AEW sources. On the other hand, PWI has stated that both Fenix and Penta are still signed with AEW, and due to legal reasons, they have not been able to finalize any deals with WWE. Despite this, it is widely believed that The Lucha Brothers will eventually sign with WWE, with Fightful mentioning that neither WWE nor AEW have responded to inquiries about the situation.

In response to the reports from Fightful, Hays clarified his original post by explaining that while the brothers have had discussions with WWE and merchandise plans have been approved, no contracts have been signed yet. It was also revealed that Fenix’s contract with AEW is set to expire this month, and there will be no extension granted by Tony Khan.

Both Fenix and Penta have been absent from AEW programming for over a month, with their last matches taking place in mid-July. The uncertainty surrounding their future has left fans eagerly anticipating their next move and speculating on what impact their potential WWE signing could have on the wrestling landscape.

As the wrestling world continues to buzz with rumors and reports about The Lucha Brothers, one thing is certain – their next career move will be closely watched by fans and industry insiders alike. The anticipation of their potential WWE debut has only added to the excitement surrounding their future in professional wrestling.
