Biden immigration bill changes'alien' into'noncitizen' Included in Reform

President Biden’s immigration bill could alter”alien” into”noncitizen” in U.S. legislation — the latest move in the struggle over language linked to immigration and immigrants.

Though the text of this bill hasn’t yet been published, a fact sheet put out by the Biden transition group prior to the inauguration stated that the bill would get rid of the term”alien” against immigration laws and replace it with”noncitizen.”

The fact sheet said that the movement”admits America as a country of immigrants”

Immigration activists and lawmakers have fought over terminology linked to immigration. Many now refer to not illegal immigrants however”undocumented” immigrants.

Meanwhile, during the Trump government, there were conflicts over speech from conservatives, also.

BuzzFeed News reported in 2019 the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) intended to change all references of the word”foreign national” into”alien” from the bureau’s policy manual.

A USCIS spokesperson advised the socket it was fraught with the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).

Biden has made several important moves on immigration, putting a 100-day moratorium on deportations, stopping wall financing and reversing the Trump-era travel bans.
