On the day of commemoration of the racist riots in Rostock-Lichtenhagen, a 13-year-old allegedly showed the Hitler salute in front of the camera. As the police in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomeranian city announced, the young person rode a bicycle behind a reporter in the morning in the Lichtenhagen district and “raised his right arm”. The journalists immediately reported this to the police, who were able to pick up the 13-year-old nearby.

According to the investigators, police officers immediately secured the video material and called in state security, which is investigating suspected use of license plates by unconstitutional organizers. Due to the precise description, the suspect was found in the immediate vicinity of emergency services after a short time. It is about a youth from Rostock.

Rostock’s police chief Anja Hamann spoke of a “shameful incident” whose background was being determined. She was “glad” that the suspect was identified so quickly due to the presence of the police on site, she said. At the same time, she pointed out that it was a child who had not yet reached the age of criminal responsibility. The limit for this in Germany is 14 years.

In Rostock-Lichtenhagen 30 years ago, a mob of right-wing extremists and rioters tried for days to storm the accommodations of foreigners, to the applause of onlookers. The pictures went around the world and caused horror.
