Darmanin: "We can't not listen to François Ruffin"

The Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, convinced that the social question is essential in view of 2027, welcomed the analyzes and the vision of the deputy François Ruffin (La France Insoumise), Friday at the microphone of RTL.

“I don’t agree on a lot of things with François Ruffin. But he is thinking,” said Gérald Darmanin. “We cannot not listen to François Ruffin”.

The Minister of the Interior, who sees “the same red bricks” in Tourcoing as the elected LFI in the Somme, insisted on his convergence of analysis with the left-wing deputy: “He says that the social question is the most important. I agree with him,” then clarified, “That doesn’t mean you have to vote for Ruffin.”

In this tribute, Gérald Darmanin took the opportunity to try to divide La France Insoumise, pointing to a supposed divergence between François Ruffin and Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the words of the former: “Ruffin dit Mélenchon is wrong to attack the order , to the cops and to the fatherland, to defend communitarianism (…) because we must speak to the workers”.

Gérald Darmanin is organizing his political comeback on Sunday in Tourcoing (North) on the theme of “working classes”. In an interview with La Voix du Nord, he considers “quite probable” the victory of Marine Le Pen in the presidential election of 2027 if the majority “let slip a majority of the working and middle classes”.

François Ruffin replied to him Thursday evening in a message posted on X (ex-Twitter): a possible victory for the leader of the National Rally, “thanks to whom? Ten years of Macron-Darmanin-Philippe-Le Maire. When Macron promised in 2017 that there would be no reason to vote for the extremes at the end of his term. When the problem presents itself as the solution”.
