Morrison Bridge closed to vehicle traffic for maintenance Sunday

The Morrison Bridge will be closed until approximately 7 p.m. Sunday for maintenance work on the lift span deck, Multnomah County announced in a release.

The bridge should be open to pedestrians and bicyclists by early afternoon. It will be raised until then, the release says.

Ramps leading up to the bridge from interstates 5 and 84 will also be closed, save for the Morrison Bridge westbound ramp to I-5 north, as crews work on deck panels that were installed between 2011 and 2012.

The I-5 southbound ramp to Highway 99 East and U.S. Highway 26 will be open. County officials suggest drivers access I-84 at Northeast Grand Avenue and Everett Street.

The work will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather. Multnomah County will fully replace the lift span deck this year, with major work beginning in April, the agency said.
