Heavy fog blankets Portland and the surrounding areas for the Wednesday commute. The fog extending south of the city too, well into the Eugene area. In addition, many Portland area low temperatures are hovering around freezing. Watch for spots of ice and freezing fog until temperatures warm later this morning.

ODOT reports a landslide has closed U.S. 101 in both directions about five miles south of Cannon Beach near Arch Cape. There is currently no estimate as to when the slide will be cleared and the road re-opened. Avoid the coast in that area.

Update 12:25 p.m.: ODOT reports U.S. 101, five miles south of Cannon Beach, will remain closed through at least the end of Wednesday or possibly Thursday to allow for scalers to remove loose rock and materials from a slide that closed the highway earlier Wednesday morning.
