Riots in Belgrade: protesters penetrate into the Serbian Parliament

After several hours of peaceful rally in Belgrade against the Corona-policy of the government, a group of nationalist protesters has invaded on Friday evening violently in the Serbian Parliament. It came to clashes with the police. Also journalists and photograph protesters were attacked by rioters. Yet on the eve of the protesters had detained at a seat rally rioters to successfully enter the Parliament.

Protesters threw in the evening, stones and bottles at the Parliament building. A group of young men through the metal railing broke in front of the Parliament and urge Patriotic songs singing in the building. The rioters were expected, however, of police officers, they pushed back out of the building and a chain around the entrance formed. The police officers were pelted then about half an hour with bottles and flares.

unlike the first two riot nights, the police used until then, neither the tear gas stun grenades. The demonstrations were sparked in plans of the President Aleksandar Vucic to impose due to the increase in the Corona cases for the weekend, a curfew.

Vucic took back the decision and ban for the accumulation of more than ten persons. This calmed the people and the protests were increasingly against Vucic himself. Nationalists accuse him now of treachery, because he has agreed to the German-French mediation of new talks with Kosovo. They see Kosovo as the breakaway Serbian province.
