RN heir to Pétain: Bardella asks Borne to "apologize"

President of the National Rally Jordan Bardella on Wednesday asked Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne to “apologize” for her remarks about the far-right party “heir to Pétain”, which he said “shocked many French people in such point that the President of the Republic was led to reframe it”.

“When you are Prime Minister of the French Republic, you do not behave like a gang leader”, criticized the RN manager on RTL, speaking of “pitiful” and “extremely serious” remarks, which “manipulates (nt) the history of France to smear a political party (…) which brought together 42% of French people in the last presidential election”.

Emmanuel Macron affirmed Tuesday in the Council of Ministers that the far right should not be fought “by moral arguments”, distinguishing himself from Élisabeth Borne who had estimated on Sunday that the National Rally was the “heir of Pétain”, calling not to “trivialize the ideas” of a party which conveys a “dangerous ideology”.

“Is controlling immigration a dangerous ideology? Is lowering taxes, for example on energy, on fuels, a dangerous ideology?” asked Jordan Bardella, judging that “the government is going in circles and no longer has too many arguments to oppose the measures that we are carrying out for the French”.

Recalling being born in 1995, he criticized the “ignorance of history” according to him of the Prime Minister, daughter of a former deportee, and “probably the desire to smear millions of French people who are patriots”.
