Activists from all over France, most of them members of the ultra-right, converged last weekend on Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme) armed with baseball bats and fireworks mortars. The vice-president of the Reconquest party! (far right), Marion Maréchal, refused, Wednesday, November 29, to condemn the violence of the clashes that followed, committed according to her by a few “zozos” who will “not make France tremble.”
“This race for convictions is part of a crude diversionary narrative which concludes that the real threat to France would not be the death of a 16-year-old young man (…) but a so-called threat of “gigadroite””, declared on RTL the head of the Reconquest list! to the Europeans.
“They’re zozos. Moreover, this stupid demonstration did not result in any real violence (…). That’s not what’s going to make France shake,” she assured.
Last weekend, around a hundred ultra-right activists from several towns demonstrated hooded in the streets of Romans-sur-Isère with the aim of “fighting” with the young people of the Monnaie district, from where are several of those implicated in the death of young Thomas, stabbed during a village festival in Crépol, in Drôme.
They were blocked by the police, with whom they clashed for a long time. On Monday, six people were sentenced in immediate appearance by the Valencia criminal court to sentences ranging from six to ten months in prison. The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, announced on Tuesday that he would request the dissolution of three small ultra-right groups.
