Brad Bradsell Retires to The National Stud Following Breeders’ Cup Finale

Top sprinter Bradsell (GB) will be retiring to The National Stud after his final race at the GI Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Del Mar on November 2. Trained by Archie Watson for Shaikh Nasser’s Victorious Racing, Bradsell has had a successful career with six wins out of 12 starts, including three at the top level. His most recent victories include the Nunthorpe Stakes and Flying Five Stakes in 2024, adding to his earlier success at Royal Ascot.

Bred by Deborah O’Brien, Bradsell is the offspring of the Listed-winning mare Russian Punch (GB) and was originally purchased for 12,000gns at the Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale. Following an impressive debut, he was acquired by Shaikh Nasser after being bought for £47,000 at the Goffs UK Doncaster Breeze-up Sale.

National Stud CEO Anna Kerr expressed excitement about Bradsell joining their program, describing him as a standout sprinter with impressive qualities. She anticipates presenting him to breeders at the upcoming December Sales. Oliver St Lawrence, the racing manager for Victorious Racing, praised Bradsell’s exceptional performance on the track and highlighted his resilience and competitive spirit. Shaikh Nasser is eager to support Bradsell in his transition to stud duties and future sales opportunities.

Trainer Archie Watson commended Bradsell for his speed, class, and toughness, emphasizing his potential to sire talented offspring.
