The FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship saw an exciting Race 2 at the Acerbis Italian Round, with Ana Carrasco claiming victory and taking the lead in the Championship by 9 points. The race was full of action, with Maria Herrera in contention for the win until she crashed out after a clash with Sara Sanchez on the last lap. Despite the drama, Tayla Relph managed to secure a spot on the podium alongside second-place finisher Roberta Ponziani.

The race between Herrera and Carrasco was intense, with both riders battling it out until the very last lap. Ponziani, the Italian home hero, also put on a strong performance and closed in on the leading pair as they fought for the win. Sanchez was also in the mix, looking to continue her success from Race 1 on Saturday.

The penultimate lap saw a thrilling four-way battle, with Ponziani and Sanchez making a charge towards the front. Unfortunately, the race came to an abrupt end for Herrera and Sanchez after a collision at Turn 11, sending both riders off the track and out of contention. Relph seized the opportunity and secured her first podium finish in the Championship.

After the race, Sanchez and Herrera were taken to the Medical Centre for evaluation. Sanchez escaped unharmed, while Herrera suffered a neck sprain and contusion and will undergo further assessments at Cremona Hospital. Sanchez received a Long Lap Penalty for the next race following a review of the incident. With just two rounds remaining in the Championship and only nine points separating the top two riders, the competition promises to be intense in the final races of the season.
