Cup final set for ITV return- with potential for Reading and League One broadcast

ITV Secures Rights for EFL Cup Final Broadcast, Reading Potential Contenders

The highly anticipated EFL Cup final is set to return to ITV screens, with the potential for Reading to be featured in the broadcast lineup. This exciting development comes after Sky Sports and ITV reached a domestic coverage agreement for EFL football.

Starting in January 2025, the new deal will kick off with the Carabao Cup semi-finals and extend until the conclusion of the 2026/27 season. ITV will co-broadcast a selection of games alongside Sky Sports, offering viewers a diverse range of matches to enjoy.

In each full season, ITV will showcase a minimum of nine Carabao Cup matches, including fixtures from the early rounds, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the grand final. Additionally, ITV will simulcast 10 EFL Championship matches per season, with five matches scheduled for the latter half of the 2024/25 season.

Moreover, ITV retains the flexibility to feature matches from League One or League Two, opening up the possibility for Reading to take the spotlight. This deal aligns with the EFL’s extended partnership with Sky Sports, ensuring fans can catch over 1,000 live matches each season, with all 72 teams receiving more than 20 broadcast appearances annually.
