For several months, French actor Gérard Depardieu has been facing several accusations of rape and sexual violence. In 2018, a complaint was filed by Charlotte Arnould, after which, the actor was indicted during the year 2021. Since then, two other complaints for rape and three for sexual assault have been added. The 75-year-old actor is expected to be tried in October 2024.
“At the end of his police custody at the 3rd judicial police district, Gérard Depardieu was given a summons to appear before the criminal court for sexual assaults likely to have been committed in September 2021 to the detriment of two victims, on the filming of the film ‘The Green Shutters'”, specified the Paris prosecutor’s office.
While the actor faces several accusations of rape, his partner stands by his side. For six years, Magda Vavrusova, a Czech production manager and actress, has shared her life discreetly, as Madame Figaro revealed.
On December 8, 2023 on her X account (formerly Twitter), the actor’s partner defended him in a long message. “Gérard is a man who lacks self-esteem and who, in public, puts himself on stage and looks for the right words to attract attention, even if it means slipping too far,” she had justified, she who “fell in love with ‘a unique man, human, insolent, provocative, vulgar, excessive (….) but above all free’.
Magda Vavrusova wanted to “take up her pen to defend him” and reveal the man she “knows with whom [she] has shared [her] life for more than 6 years and [whom she] loves”.
