ICC Player of the Month: September Nominees Excludes Indians

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has recently announced the nominees for the Men’s Player of the Month award for September. The three cricketers who have made it to the list are Australian batsman Travis Head, and Sri Lankan players Prabath Jayasuriya and Kamindu Mendis. These players have shown exceptional performances in their respective formats of the game.

Travis Head caught the attention of the cricketing world with his explosive performances during Australia’s tour of England. In September, he scored a total of 182 runs in five T20Is at an impressive strike rate of 245.94. Head’s form carried over to the ODI format where he scored 248 runs at an average of 82.66 and a strike rate of 120.97.

On the other hand, Prabath Jayasuriya played a crucial role in Sri Lanka’s victory over New Zealand in September with his exceptional bowling skills. He took a total of 21 wickets at an average of 27.90 in three Test matches. Jayasuriya also made history by becoming the fastest bowler from his country to reach 100 Test wickets, achieving this milestone in just 16 matches.

Kamindu Mendis, another nominee for the award, has been in outstanding form since making his debut in Test cricket. In September, he scored an impressive 451 runs in four Tests at an average of 90.20. Mendis also set a unique record by becoming the first male player to score a half-century in each of his first eight Test matches. Additionally, he became the fastest batter in 75 years to reach 1000 runs in Test cricket, achieving this milestone in just 8 matches.

These three players have showcased their talent and skills on the cricket field, making them strong contenders for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for September.
