Ligue 2: Caen, Grenoble and Amiens ensure, Saint-Etienne falls again

The second day of Ligue 2 ends with Caen, Grenoble and Amiens leading with six points. The three clubs picked up their second victory in two meetings. Saturday was also marked by Saint-Etienne’s new setback.

This second day will end on Monday with the Bordeaux-Concarneau meeting. Caen, trained by Jean-Marc Furlan, won against Pau (2-0) and Grenoble against Paris FC (2-0), a contender for the rise which conceded a second defeat in as many matches.

These two victories allow them to take control of the championship, along with Amiens, who won a major success at Auxerre (1-0), relegated from Ligue 1 and clear winner at Valenciennes on the first day, thanks to a realization of Kakuta (47th).

Beaten at the opening by Grenoble, Saint-Etienne again sank at the end of the match in Rodez (2-1), where the start of the match was delayed by 55 minutes due to scuffles between Saint-Etienne supporters.

As in the defeat against Grenoble (1-0) last Saturday, the Greens cracked in extra time against Ruthénois, winners thanks to a goal Lucas Buades (90 5). Troyes and Ajaccio, two other former residents of Ligue 1, won their first victory, respectively against Laval (3-1) and Quevilly-Rouen (1-0, goal from Nouri in the 33rd).

This is not the case for Angers, dead last in Ligue 1 last season, who conceded a draw at home against Annecy (0-0).

Valenciennes, who conceded seven goals in two days, suffered another heavy defeat at Bastia (3-0) and Guingamp were beaten by promoted Dunkirk (1-0).

Facing Concarneau on Monday, the Girondins must react after their debacle in Pau during the first day (3-0) and fill their penalty point in the standings, received following the incidents of the last day of the previous season against Rodez.
