Nicolas Holveck, president of AS Nancy Lorraine, died at 52

The president of AS Nancy Lorraine (ASNL) and former manager of Stade Rennais and AS Monaco, Nicolas Holveck has died at the age of 52, the Nancy club announced on Monday April 8 in a message published on its X account.

“It is with immense sadness that we learned this morning of the death of our president Nicolas Holveck,” ASNL said. He fought against illness until the end and on behalf of the entire club, from shareholders to licensees, we offer our most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. »

Then president of the Breton club, Mr. Holveck, who revealed in March 2021 to be suffering from colon cancer before stepping down in May 2022.

A victory in the League Cup in 2006

He returned to the world of football by becoming executive president of AS Nancy Lorraine in September 2023, but he withdrew again on March 20 from the club which plays in the National “for medical reasons”.

Mr. Holveck spent a large part of his managerial career at Nancy, where he held various positions between 1997 and 2014, notably when the club played in Ligue 1 and even in the European Cup after its victory in the Coupe de la League in 2006. He then left for Monaco to become deputy general manager until 2020 before joining Stade Rennais as president of the Breton club from 2020 to 2022.
