PH Boxers Ready for World Boxing Cup Battle

A Philippine delegation consisting of four male and two female boxers will be participating in the World Boxing Cup in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This event marks the third World Boxing Cup of the year, following competitions in Sheffield, England in January and Colorado in April. Points earned in these tournaments will lead to the WC Finals in Sheffield later on.

The four-day competition in Ulaanbaatar will be the first World Boxing Cup event held in Asia and is organized by the Mongolian Boxing Federation and World Boxing. Representing the Philippines in the competition are Aaron Jude Bado (51kg), Ian Clark Bautista (57kg), Mark Ashley Fajardo (63.5kg), Tyler Tanap (71kg), Ofelia Magno (50kg), and Riza Pasuit (60kg).

ABAP chairman Ricky Vargas expressed his pride in the Philippine boxers who brought home two bronze medals from the Paris Olympics, and stated that ABAP’s mission is to continue bringing honor to the country. The Filipino boxers are determined to give their all in the tournament and make their fellow countrymen proud.

Accompanying the boxers from the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines are coaches Roel Velasco and Mario Fernandez, both medalists in their own right. Rafael Reyes III will serve as the team manager, with Karina Picson named as the technical delegate for the event.

The official draw for the competition is scheduled for September 22, with the opening ceremony taking place the following day along with two preliminary matches. The Philippine delegation is gearing up to showcase their skills and determination on the world stage, and the entire nation is rooting for their success.
