Recruit Rebecca Odgers Joins Somerset Cricket Team

Somerset County Cricket Team has recently welcomed a new recruit, Rebecca Odgers, to their squad on a one-year rookie contract. Rebecca, a 21-year-old batter, began her cricket journey through the Cornwall Pathway system and made her County debut in 2018. In just her second game, she impressed everyone by scoring her first List A century and ended the season with 240 runs at an average of 48.

Having joined Western Storm’s South West Regional Development Centre in 2019, Rebecca also had the opportunity to represent England Academy that same summer. Her dedication and hard work paid off when she made her debut for Somerset Women in July of that year. Recently, in 2023, the University of Exeter student had her Storm debut against Central Sparks in the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

With 42 appearances for Cornwall in white-ball cricket, Rebecca has scored over 800 runs, with her highest score being an impressive 122. Expressing her excitement about joining Somerset, Rebecca stated that playing professional cricket has always been her dream, and she is thrilled to see it come true. She emphasized the progress and development of the women’s game, highlighting the opportunities now available for aspiring female cricketers like herself.

Head Coach of Somerset Women, Trevor Griffin, praised Rebecca’s technical skills as a batter, noting her ability to play all types of shots.
