Rhasidat Adeleke is gearing up to compete in the individual 400 meters at the upcoming Olympic track and field event at the Stade de France. While the mixed 4x400m relay heats are scheduled for Friday evening, Adeleke will not be participating in those races. The final for the 4x400m relay is set for Saturday night.

Ireland, including Adeleke, has been drawn in heat two against tough competitors like Italy, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, the Dominican Republic, Nigeria, and Ukraine. The top three from each heat will qualify for the final, along with the two fastest losers. Ireland holds the third-fastest time, behind the Dutch and the Dominicans, with a national record set in Rome.

Adeleke will be focusing on the individual 400m event and might participate in the women’s 4x400m relay later on. She faces a challenging schedule with three rounds of the women’s 400m event scheduled for the following week. Her Irish record of 49.07 seconds is the third-fastest time among the 400m entries.

The USA is anticipated to be the favorites in the mixed relay event, but with top athletes prioritizing individual events, the competition seems more open. Sophie Becker is likely to replace Adeleke in the relay and is also qualified for the individual 400m, along with Mawdsley. Both athletes are committed to the mixed relay.

In addition to Adeleke’s journey, the opening track and field schedule includes three heats for the men’s 1,500m event. Cathal Doyle, Luke McCann, and Andrew Coscoran will be competing in their respective heats, aiming to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

As Adeleke prepares to showcase her skills in the individual 400m event, fans are eager to see her performance and cheer on team Ireland in the upcoming competitions. The anticipation is high as athletes gear up to compete at the prestigious Olympic event, aiming for glory and medals in their respective events.
