Stanislav Pozdnyakov, the boss of the Russian Olympic Committee, made some big accusations this Friday, July 28 against the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He accuses the institution of acting “in the interests” of Ukraine, following the IOC’s call to show “sensitivity” towards Ukrainian athletes.
“The IOC […] took sides in the political conflict, began to act in the interest of this side,” Pozdnyakov lamented in a statement posted on Telegram, reacting to Thursday’s disqualification of a swordswoman Ukrainian who had refused to shake hands with her Russian opponent after beating her at the World Fencing Championships.
