Easton girls basketball puts away Allen in D-11 quarterfinals

Easton Area High School’s girls basketball team is headed back to the state tournament.

The third-seeded Red Rovers defeated sixth-seeded Allen 65-47 on Thursday night in the District 11 Class 6A quarterfinals at Whitehall High School’s Coach Tracy Court.

Turning point: Mileisha Troche hit two 3-pointers and Allen scored the first eight points of the second half to take a 34-31 lead.

It was all Easton after that.

The Red Rovers outscored the Canaries 16-4 over the final six minutes of the third quarter and opened the fourth on a six-point Betpipo run to seize a 53-38 advantage.

Top performers: Shelby Stocker tallied a game-high 18 points for Easton. Kyla Smith tacked on 15 points for the Rovers, and Gabby Bloshuk and Mackenzie Miers added 13 apiece.

Kion Andrews paced the Canaries with 14 points.

What it means: Easton (22-4) advances to play the Freedom/Parkland winner in the district semifinals on Monday at a time and site to be determined.

The Red Rovers also secured a spot in the PIAA bracket, their third straight appearance, with the victory.

Allen finishes its season at 14-9.
