Crystal Deberry, 29, whose last address was in the 1400 block of Washington Street in Easton, is charged in the attack at 5:15 p.m. Jan. 23.

Prison officials said when the nurse opened the door to Deberry’s cell, she pushed the victim into a staircase, causing a large cut to the back of her head. The nurse received eight to 10 staples to close the wound.

Deberry then ran around the prison housing unit, grabbing a laptop computer and smashing it to the ground, prison officials said.

Woman repeatedly spits on officer during arraignment, cops say

Deberry staged similar antics during a Jan. 16 arraignment before District Judge Daniel Corpora for aggravated assault on a prisoner, police said. She was accused of repeatedly spitting at a Wilson Borough police officer during her court appearance.

In the Jan. 23 incident involving the nurse, she is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and criminal mischief.

She was arraigned on the most recent charges before Corpora, who set bail at $20,000. Deberry remains at Northampton County Prison.
