Erfurt (dpa/th) – The Thuringian state parliament has extended the deadline for the post-qualification of paramedics by one year to December 2023. A corresponding amendment to the Rescue Service Act was passed by the plenum on Thursday. With the extension of the transition period in the rescue service, the quality of treatment for emergency patients will be improved, it said.

The new job description of the emergency paramedic was introduced nationwide in 2014. In contrast to the paramedics with a two-year training, the three-year trained paramedics have more skills. The CDU parliamentary group announced that it intends to introduce a tele-emergency doctor law to the state parliament.
