Rostock (dpa / mv) – The Rostock medical professor and long-time head of the health industry MV, Horst Klinkmann, has been awarded the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Tourism Prize for his life’s work. Klinkmann coined the term health tourism, which has been an integral part of the “MV Health Economy” master plan since 2006. “A concept that would not have been put into practice so successfully without the high and professionally outstanding commitment of his person,” was the explanation given at the award ceremony in Rostock on Wednesday evening.

In the Innovation Tourism Award category, Haffhus GmbH took first place for the “Haffhus 360°” project. The jury thus honored the development of the Western Pomeranian company into a sustainable year-round operation, which is accompanied and curated by a specially hired manager for sustainability and digitization, as the tourism association announced at the tourism days in Rostock.

Second place went to “The digital guest experience in Binzer Bucht”, third place went to the barrier-free resort of Stettiner Haff. A 13-strong jury, which is also made up of representatives from the industry, the media and business, convened by the tourism association, decides on the awarding of the tourism prize.

This year, for the first time, the Tourism Association and ADAC Hansa jointly awarded the Mecklenburg-West Pomerania Tourism Prize in two categories: Lifetime Achievement and Innovation. In 2021, the MV Tourism Days and the presentation of the tourism prizes were canceled due to the pandemic.
