In the midst of the Ukrainian counter-offensive, Igor Kirillov, head of Russia’s radiation, chemical and biological protection troops, issued bizarre accusations against the United States regarding the flooded southern regions of Ukraine after the destruction of the Kakhovka dam. The senior official, reports the New York Post, fears the deliberate spread of “arboviruses”, diseases transmitted by insects such as mosquitoes.

“The high technical level of the preparation of the United States for the use of infected vectors is evidenced by a patent for a drone designed to spread infected mosquitoes through the air,” said Igor Kirillov. “After a drop in the water level, it is possible to form outbreaks of mosquito-borne diseases, mainly West Nile fever,” he fears.

“According to the description, the drone is to deliver a container with the insects to a given area and release them,” said the head of the radiation, chemical and biological protection troops. According to the latter, “the description of the patent emphasizes that the infected soldier is not able to accomplish the combat missions assigned to him”.

Dubious claims that came as the Ukrainian army announced that it had retaken its eighth village in two weeks of counter-offensive.
