RTVE has defended this Sunday in a statement of the Benidorm Fest voting system, contest he celebrated his final gala this Saturday and who announced the Representative of Spain to the Eurovision Festival 2022, which was very criticized in social networks.

“In any competitive contest there are many people who do not see their expectations fulfilled. In any case, the greatness of every competition is to fully accept the rules until its last consequences,” the public corporation has pointed out.

The artist Chanel was the winner of the festival with his “Slomo ‘theme, after the professional jury gave him the maximum of points.
According to the mechanics of festival vote, 50% of the vote is decided by the professional jury, while the other 50% is from the publicly public (25%) and televoto (25%).

The Group Tanxugueiras was the one that obtained the most points for the democcopic vote and by the modality of the televoto, being the favorites of the night, next to Rigoberta Bandini, a few points from the Galician trio.

In the statement, RTVE admits to be “conscious” of the “controversy” on the process to choose the song that will represent Spain in Eurovision, but considers “positive” experience.
In fact, he has assured that “he maintains his firm commitment to Spanish music” and that he has already put “all his energy” to promote Spanish candidacy in Europe.
“Apart from debates, the most important thing at this time is to support Chanel,” he said.

Although, as a result of the controversy generated, RTVE has decided to “open a participatory dialogue to improve, for upcoming next editions, the whole process of the Benidorm Fest” and, secondly, create a television program to promote Spanish music

This project, whose details will be announced in the “next days”, will be open to all the contestants of the first edition of the Benidorm Fest.
