Battalion, the new Italian restaurant from the team behind Feast and Rebelle, will open Tuesday in the renovated Fire Station No. 7 on South Alamo Street.

Tuesday’s hours will be 5-11 p.m., then Battalion will start its regular schedule of 5-11 p.m. Monday-Saturday. It’s located at 604 S. Alamo St, 210-816-0088, battalionsa.com.

Chef Stefan Bowers’ Italian menu will include 10 pastas for $10 each, including five fresh pastas, three dried pastas and two kinds of gnudi. He’s hired Italian pasta maker Elene D’Agostino, and the kitchen will be led by executive chef Ezekiel Cavazos, who was previously chef de cuisine at Rebelle and who’s worked with Bowers for 11 years.

Along with an expansive Italian wine list and full bar, Battalion will feature a digestivo cart (most under $10), custom prosecco Süperbetin spritzers and coffee roasted especially for the restaurant by Rosella Coffee.

Restaurateur Andrew Goodman kept the fine brick bones and expansive windows of the old fire station, then took a modernist, avant-garde design approach to rebuild it from the inside, including a swirled gray epoxy floor, three original firepoles, interlocking striped marble bartops, a fire-engine red elevator and chandeliers that take the forms of chrome swans and a crystal Medusa’s crown.

Goodman designed the restaurant with Lori Urbano of Urbano Design & Build in San Antonio, with graphics by the local design firm Hilmy.
