Atresmedia will offer the Spanish adaptation of The Floor, a Dutch contest to which it has acquired the rights. Manel Fuentes will be in charge of this format after his work on Your face sounds to me and Catch a million. The production company Mediacrest (El Cazador, Mapi) will be in charge of its development, according to ABC.

The communication group reached an agreement with Talpa, responsible for the original title, which offers details about its mechanics. He defines it as a ‘quiz show’ in which 100 people compete for a final prize of 100,000 euros. They will have to demonstrate their mastery of different topics, but also their skills for strategy.

The set presents a floor divided into 100 equal squares. Each represents a field of knowledge and is occupied by a contestant. The objective is to conquer the entire territory through a series of duels.

A randomly chosen participant begins by challenging an opponent located on a square next to him. Both are faced with various questions that are visually supported by photographs. The questions that are formulated in the program belong to the category of the challenged square. Some examples are famous athletes, Hollywood actors, iconic buildings, and mammals.

The winner of the duel keeps the square of his opponent, expanding his territory. The loser must leave the competition. The description on the Talpa website concludes: “After eight episodes, who will be the last person standing on The Floor and win 100,000 euros?”

The Floor was launched in early 2023 on the private network RTL 4, which broadcasts in the Netherlands. The contest was the leader in its time slot in that country with a 22.4% audience share. In addition, the program will also reach France, where viewers will be able to see a ‘prime time’ version and a daily version.
