Today, Thursday April 13, the Catholic Church honors San Ermenegildo.

He was the son of the first Visigothic king of Spain and also an Arian in the 6th century. However, he marries a Catholic and converts to Christianity.

According to the Vatican website, he was imprisoned in Tarragona and assassinated by order of his father for refusing to receive communion from an Arian bishop.

Today he is the patron saint of Spain.
