Experimented in Gironde for several months, online complaint filing will be generalized throughout France from next summer, Emmanuel Macron announced on Friday February 9 during a trip to Bordeaux. “It will drastically simplify the lives of our compatriots and our police officers and gendarmes,” greeted the head of state after attending a demonstration at the city’s police headquarters.
During his general policy speech at the end of January, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal affirmed that “from this year, everyone will be able to file a complaint online anywhere in the country”. Announced in 2021 by Emmanuel Macron, the online complaint system has been tested in Gironde since December. It allows “all our compatriots who wish to do so to file a complaint from home, at any time,” noted the President of the Republic.
Only the simplest cases, attacks on property (theft, vandalism, breach of trust or even fraud including on the Internet) are concerned and only when the complaint is filed against -say when the author has not been identified.
More than “two million complaints” eligible for the procedure
“In total, out of three and a half million complaints per year, two million complaints are eligible for this simplified procedure,” assured Emmanuel Macron. “This is done in complete security, with full respect of confidentiality and will allow us to organize things much better and therefore to have even more police officers and gendarmes on the ground. »
The system will be generalized to the entire territory from next summer, as well as the “video-complaint”, currently being tested in a few departments, including Sarthe, added the Head of State.
After his visit to the police headquarters, Emmanuel Macron had lunch with police officers and attended the swearing-in ceremony of the new promotion of the National School of the Judiciary, the most important in the history of the Fifth Republic, where he gave a speech.
