Pasapalabra gets red hot with the duel that contestants Moisés and Óscar have been starring in for weeks for a jackpot that already exceeds 1.2 million euros. As if this battle were not enough incentive, the Antena 3 program announces news. On the one hand, it presents a special night of champions with the participation of Luis de Lama, Javier Dávila, Pablo Díaz and Orestes Barbero. On the other hand, it renews the famous quartet for the next three programs (from December 20 to 22). Among the new faces, a guest who is making his debut in the contest: Edu Pidal.

This guest’s face may not be too familiar to many viewers. And, in addition to this being the first time he visits Pasapalabra, his work tool is the voice and its habitat, the radio.

Edu Pidal was born in Llanes (Asturias) in 1983. He studied journalism in Salamanca, the city where he entered the world of broadcasting aboard Radio Salamanca, being in charge of entering Carrusel Deportivo to narrate the matches of the Helmántico stadium. Since then, microphones and sports have accompanied him.

From Salamanca, he moved to Ser Gijón, where he experienced Manolo Preciado’s Sporting’s promotion to the First Division (2008) in the first row. Already in 2010, he wanted to try his luck on the Ser network in Madrid. And what should have been a summer experience became his definitive springboard; His arrival at Gran Vía coincided with the departure of Paco González and other Sports workers and Pidal was one of those chosen to be part of the star program of radio nights: El Larguero.

Together with José Ramón de la Morena, Edu Pidal covered the major cycling events (Tour, Giro and La Vuelta), the Euro Cups with the Spanish team and especially the news about Atlético de Madrid.

In 2016, De la Morena left Ser to move to Onda Cero, taking with him his trusted men, such as David Alonso, Hugo Conde, Aitor Gómez, Óscar Rubiano, Ana Rodríguez and Edu Pidal himself. On his new station, the Asturian journalist took on the information about Real Madrid.

In Onda Cero he has become the strong man of sports. Since last September, he received the great assignment of his life: to lead Onda Cero’s sports night with the program Radioestadio noche, along with Rocío Martínez. In addition, he continues to be in charge of La brújula del Deporte, within Rafa Latorre’s news program. Without a doubt, he is one of the most solid sports radio journalists of the moment.

“Since I dedicated myself to sports journalism, I practiced reporting with passion, I have traveled all over the world, I returned to the studio to present ‘The Compass of Sport’ and, now, taking charge of Radioestadio Noche is a big step, which I face with great responsibility and enthusiasm together with Rocío”, explains Edu Pidal.
