Today, Tuesday February 28, the Catholic Church remembers San Leandro de Sevilla.
He was born into a Spanish-Roman family in the city of Cartagena around the year 549, but soon after he moved to Seville.
After entering a local monastery, San Leandro de Sevilla would be the founder of a school of sciences and arts. His religious knowledge and his faith made Hermenegildo and Recadero, sons of King Leovigildo, convert to Christianity.
It was then that King Leovigildo sent San Leandro into exile who could not return to Seville until the king executed his son.
As Archbishop of Seville, he presided over the III Council of Toledo.
He is considered a key person in the development and growth of the Church in the Visigothic era. His body was buried in the Seville Cathedral in the year 600.

The Catholic saints are the group of people recognized by the Church as saints or blessed on a specific date. The Roman Martyrology is the document that names and distributes in the calendar the almost 7,000 saints and blessed recognized by the Church.
The saints and saints are prominent men and women in the various religious traditions for their special relationships with the divinities or for a particular ethical elevation. While the consideration of blessed constitutes the third step on the path to canonization.
