Dortmund (dpa / lnw) – After a breakdown on the A45, the passenger of a van got out – and was hit by a truck. The 37-year-old died at the scene of the accident. The truck first collided with the breakdown vehicle and then hit the man, the police said on Friday.
The van had a defect near the Dortmund-Süd motorway junction on Thursday and had to stop in the outermost three lanes. The 37-year-old got out and was run over. The 28-year-old driver of the van suffered minor injuries in the accident. The 53-year-old truck driver suffered a shock. Chaplains from the fire brigade looked after all those involved. The A45 was closed for several hours in the direction of Oberhausen.
