Hattingen (dpa / lnw) – In Hattingen, five people were injured when a van and a car collided, two of them seriously. As a result of the frontal collision, the car with two women was thrown into an embankment next to the road, both suffered serious injuries, the fire department reported on Thursday. The van, which was also damaged, came to a stop on the roadway. The three occupants were able to get out of the vehicle on their own – they were slightly injured in the impact.

According to the fire department, the two women in the car were initially unconscious and trapped in their car. They were first stabilized in the accident vehicle by emergency doctors. Then the driver’s and passenger’s doors could be opened with a cutting and spreading device, and the women were carefully removed from the car.

An accident victim came to a clinic with a rescue helicopter. The other woman was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The three occupants of the van were examined at the scene of the accident.
