HOBOKEN — A water main break in the heart of Hoboken is forcing traffic to be re-routed Tuesday morning, officials said.
The water main ruptured at 5th Street and Willow Avenue, Hoboken officials said in a tweet at 4:41 a.m. Willow is closed between 5th and 6th.
SUEZ water officials were on the scene working to isolate the location of the break. They said additional details would be released soon.
Officials say breaks highlight need for overhaul
As a result, NJ Transit said the heavily traveled 126 bus line to the Port Authority that normally runs along Willow would take Washington Street instead.
It’s the second water main break in the city this month and the third this year.
A service line break also sent water into the streets days after a January water main break.
