Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – A major fire in a recycling company in Stuttgart-Hedelfingen caused a large-scale operation by the fire brigade on Saturday. On the company premises, 600 cubic meters of garbage caught fire from an initially unclear cause, as a spokesman for the fire brigade announced in the evening. A total of around 100 emergency services were on site. The amount of property damage was initially unclear. No people were harmed.

According to the information, the fire brigade was alerted shortly before 5 p.m. A thick cloud of black smoke rose at the scene, the spokesman said. As the smoke initially threatened to spread, a warning was issued to the population as a precaution. The emergency services then got the fire under control after a short time, and the warning could be withdrawn. The post-extinguishing work should continue until late in the evening.
