Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Bundesliga soccer club VfB Stuttgart is no longer planning with playmaker Daniel Didavi. “We discussed our common situation with Dida after the end of the season and came to the conclusion not to extend the expiring contract beyond the summer,” said sporting director Sven Mislintat in a club statement on Friday.
The 32-year-old Didavi played for VfB as a child and teenager, he played 113 Bundesliga games for Stuttgart and scored 24 goals. In the past season, the midfielder, who often suffered from knee problems during his career, had to be content with a reserve role and only made ten appearances, of which only one over the entire season.
With the exception of the 2011/2012 season, when he was loaned to 1. FC Nürnberg, and the years between 2016 and 2018 at VfL Wolfsburg, he was always on the pitch as a professional for VfB. This also included 19 second division games in the 2019/2020 season. A new chapter is now beginning for him, Didavi said in the statement, without explaining whether and where he would continue his career.
