Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Baden-Württemberg’s Health Minister Manne Lucha has criticized the plans for the future financing of statutory health insurance (GKV). “The structural deficit remains, the finances will not be stabilized in the long term,” said the Green politician of the “Schwäbische Zeitung”. Half of the financial gap will be closed by one-off measures and the further use of reserves, the minister criticized. He would have liked proposals for solid financing of health insurance companies.
On Wednesday, the federal cabinet passed a draft law for the future financing of statutory health insurance. Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD) plans to increase the average additional contribution for statutory health insurance by 0.3 percentage points. Lauterbach emphasized that the insured would only have to pay half of the planned amount and that there would be no cuts in benefits.
According to the Federal Minister, the reason for the increase in contributions is an expected deficit of the GKV of 17 billion euros next year. The federal government would also like to support the finances of the GKV by increasing the subsidy from the current 14.5 billion euros by a further 2 billion and a loan of 1 billion for the health fund.
